Beaten but Not Defeated |
Mar 21. I ran the beautiful Canyonlands Half-Marathon today. It was a gorgeous day for a run, if a little hot at the end. I was running well, but not well enough for a PR. After the first part of it, I figured out where I was going to end up — at right about 2 hours. From then on, I just dropped into a groove and enjoyed the scenery and the beautiful day. I was good enough to finish in the top half of my age group (57/124 among men 50-54) so I'm pleased with that. The drummers at the mile 10 rest stop are always a treat. I look forward to seeing them each time I run there. |

Mar 19. Sky had a physical therapy appointment today, and Heather loves him enough to take some videos of him. The right video, with him trying to play with a border collie, is especially cute. If you want, you can watch these videos on YouTube: |

Mar 14. Spring Break turned into a busy week, capped off with another run. I'm behind on my running calendar but I'm hoping that the Motivation Fairy will come visit me sometime soon. I was proud of what I accomplished in this morning's 10 mile race, a tough one with multiple hills. I was 9/17 in my age group, and anytime I can finish in the middle of my age group I'm satisfied. |

Kid, You're Just Lucky |
Mar 8. One of our simple pleasures in life is to buy a bag of marshmallows at the store and throw them for the dogs. I was supposed to run this weekend, but I didn't. There were no races, and I hate hate hate long runs by myself. I had a running buddy lined up, but we couldn't work it out, so I just gave up on it. Our Spring Break is this week, so maybe I can get out more. It won't be tomorrow, though, as about a foot of snow is forecast. I will be going to Parkside Elementary tomorrow for Brain Awareness Week activities. This will be my first time in a long time that I have had partners, in this case college students who organized it, so I'm hoping I can just sit back and watch them do the work. |
